External Bifold Doors: A Range Styles and Designs

We stock exterior bifold doors in numerous configurations to suit different room layouts and opening sizes. The most popular door styles are 3,0 and 3,1 with these numbers reflecting the number of doors on each side and how they move. A 3,0 door has two doors that ‘fold’ on one side and a single door attached to the end which operates independently. In a 3,1 door, the three doors on one side will slide and fold back onto each other, with the daily access door opening on the opposite side.

If you would prefer a more unusual leaf design, then one of our made-to-measure doors may be a good option for you. When you are choosing the door configuration, take a moment to think about where the furniture will go in the conservatory, kitchen, or open-plan living area, and how much space you want on each side.

Materials

Choose from oak, engineered wood, softwood, or aluminium bifold doors in a range of thicknesses and finishes.

Aluminium bifolds are lightweight, and easy to maintain and operate. They have a long lifespan and offer good thermal efficiency. Whilst they're usually slightly more costly than other materials, they offer plenty of benefits.

Wooden bifolds are classic and attractive. If you opt for timber sliding patio doors you will need to keep them well-maintained, but their stunning looks make a little extra work worthwhile. Wooden concertina-style doors offer good thermal performance and suit more traditional homes especially well.

Your most cost-effective option is uPVC doors. Thermally efficient and secure, you can create a seamless flow and let in extra light for less.
